Lesson 5 of 6

Level 5: Five clients

Keep them: retention and a productised offer

Clear condition: Level 5

At least 5 live clients, 3 of them with real conversations in 3 different months of the last 120 days.

Getting clients is the part everybody talks about. Keeping them is the part that decides whether you have a business.

I learned this one the expensive way. Before DM Champ, I ran a cold email campaign for hair transplant clinics and signed a whole batch of them. I could get them leads. I could get them consultations. Not one of them stayed. The clinics had no follow up, so the leads I sent asked one question and went silent. I was selling the top of the funnel to businesses that leaked everything below it.

That failure is where DM Champ came from. And it is the lesson for this level: clients stay when the thing you sell keeps paying them back, every week, without them doing anything.

Make the agent part of their process

The best retention I have seen in this community did not come from a contract. It came from habit. When a team gets used to the agent answering at night, qualifying leads before they reach a person, and booking straight into the calendar, switching it off feels like going backwards.

So build for that from day one:

  • Connect it to their systems. If the client lives in a spreadsheet, a booking tool or a CRM, connect the agent to it, so it reads their stock or availability and writes leads back. The video above shows it live with Google Sheets. Custom functions and the API cover the rest.
  • Book, do not just answer. An agent that books appointments is visibly worth money. An agent that only answers questions is a nice to have, and nice to haves get cancelled.
  • Give their team answers too. You can switch on a help assistant under your own brand inside your clients' accounts. It answers their "how do I" questions about the app, so they ask you less and use it more.
  • Report every month. Send one short message: how many people the agent talked to, how many it booked, and one conversation it handled well. A client who sees the number every month does not wonder whether to cancel.

Turn your setup into one offer

At five clients you cannot rebuild everything by hand. Pick the niche that pays and retains best, and turn what you did for it into one package: the same agent, the same channels, the same follow ups, the same report, the same price.

Save that setup as a snapshot, and install it on every new client in that niche. Then the only custom work per client is their prices, their hours and their tone. The rest is the product.

A productised offer is also easier to sell. "I set up an AI agent that answers your Instagram and WhatsApp and books consultations, for this price per month" is a sentence a clinic owner says yes to. "I build custom AI solutions" is a sentence they ignore.

Do this now

  1. Look at your clients and ask, for each one: if I switched the agent off tomorrow, would they notice by Friday? Fix the ones where the answer is no.
  2. Connect one client's agent to a system they already use. Custom functions
  3. If you manage clients from your own software, use the API for agencies. API for Agencies
  4. Switch on the help assistant under your brand for your clients. Client assistant
  5. Save your best setup as a snapshot and use it for every new client in that niche. Snapshots

The ticks are only saved in this browser. Your level still comes from your account.

What does not count

Churning clients in and out does not move you up, and a quiet month does not move you down. Levels you reached stay reached. What counts here is clients whose customers keep talking to the agent, month after month.

Member proof

Ammar Shariq's universities used the agent through a two week trial, and by the end removing it would have felt like a step backwards for their teams. All three signed six month retainers.

Do it in your own account

Your level moves when the real thing happens in DM Champ. Start the challenge and come back to this lesson as you go.

The challenge is free. DM Champ starts with a 7 day trial. Already playing? Continue opens your level in the app.
